Straight, well-aligned teeth create a gorgeous, confident smile and are commonly healthier and easier to keep clean. Orthodontic problems (such as crooked teeth and an uneven bite) may also result in subsequent dental health conditions that may impact your oral function, which could be more expensive to repair. To help individuals reap the benefits of a beautiful, healthy smile, our staff proudly offers Invisalign orthodontics to teenagers and adults in Ashburn, VA. The Invisalign treatment process straightens teeth by way of clear, removable teeth aligners, providing a discreet appearance and a simple alternative to traditional orthodontics. Determine if Invisalign clear aligners are a good choice for your smile goals by setting up a consultation with Dr. Joanna Claustro at Joanna Claustro DMD & Associates.

Who is a Candidate for Invisalign Treatment?
The Invisalign system is appropriate for treating a wide range of orthodontic problems in teenagers and adults. Good candidates usually have mild to moderate misalignment issues that make them feel self-conscious. During your initial consultation, Dr. Claustro will assess your smile and review your orthodontic options to ensure that Invisalign aligners are right for your needs. We may take X-rays and dental impressions to create a tailored treatment plan that meets your smile goals.
How Do Invisalign Aligners Work?
Invisalign clear aligners function via a custom series of transparent removable trays that steadily guide your teeth into their optimal location. To start your orthodontic treatment, our Ashburn, VA team will take an impression of your mouth, which will be sent to a designated lab where your customized aligners will be fabricated. When the aligner trays are received at our dental center, our staff will schedule you to come back in to try on your initial set and go over instructions for wearing them. The aligners should be worn in your mouth for no less than 20 – 22 hours every day and only taken out prior to brushing your teeth, flossing your teeth, eating foods, or drinking. Approximately every 7 – 14 days, you will swap out your current pair of Invisalign trays for the next in your series.
What to Expect After Invisalign Treatment
Our team will help you set up periodic follow-up visits at Joanna Claustro DMD & Associates so our expert Invisalign dentist can monitor your orthodontic results. Once your treatment is complete, Dr. Claustro can set up a plan for ongoing dental care and maintenance. This may include the use of a custom retainer to ensure your newly aligned smile remains in great condition long-term. We may also recommend changes to your brushing and flossing regimen or additional preventive treatments as needed. Annual check-ups are essential to help detect and prevent any potential oral health issues in the future.
Joanna Claustro DMD & Associates Reviews
The customer service and the professionalism are of the highest level and would recommend this consult to anyone in need of their assistance. I am happy with the progress of my Invisalign treatment.
What a wonderful first time visit, both for my 6 year old son and for me! They weren't rushed, took their time, and made everything look and feel easy. My son is often nervous about new providers, but they were so great, so kind, and so gentle just naturally. The atmosphere was lovely, peaceful, and welcoming. My son honed in on a couple really cute pictures he saw of the hygienist's cats and dogs positioned right at kid level (so thoughtful to put them there). He had a great visit, wasn't concerned when they used the normal tools (for him it was a first time with the spinning polisher etc). I was so proud of him, but also so grateful to have found this practice thanks to a glowing recommendation from another mom friend ;-). I am returning to them for invisalign for myself, something I've wanted to do for years, and very excited!

About UsInvisalign® Treatment FAQs
Do Invisalign treatments hurt?
No, most patients don't find that Invisalign teeth straightening treatment is painful. In fact, some have said that it is more comfortable than traditional braces. Some people may experience minor tooth soreness and discomfort as their teeth adjust to a new tray, but it typically only lasts for a few days and is usually easily controlled with over-the-counter pain relievers if necessary (always consult your physician).
How long does it take to straighten your teeth with Invisalign?
It depends on how severe your teeth misalignment is and how diligent you are about wearing your Invisalign trays. In general, most people will need to wear their Invisalign trays for about 12 – 18 months to achieve their goals.
How long do you have to wear your Invisalign trays every day?
To achieve the best results in the least amount of time with your Invisalign trays, we recommend that they are worn for at least 20 – 22 hours a day. It is Ok to take them out to eat, brush your teeth, or for a special occasion, but they should be put back in immediately afterward.
How often are the Invisalign trays switched out?
It will depend on the progress of your treatment. On average, Dr. Claustro will have your trays changed out every 7 – 14 days. You will also have regular follow-up exams to track your treatment progress and to check if any changes need to be made to your treatment regimen.
