If one or a few of your teeth have fallen out, it is not just a cosmetic issue — gaps in your teeth may cause your remaining teeth to move out of position. This may lead to extra tension when biting, pain when you chew, or even difficulty speaking. A bridge improves the appearance and health of your mouth by covering spaces with a false tooth supported by either your natural teeth, dental implants, or a combination of both. At Joanna Claustro DMD & Associates in Ashburn, VA, Dr. Claustro offers dental bridges with high-quality materials to help give you back your smile. If you have missing teeth, please schedule a consultative appointment with a member of our team to get more information about your treatment options with a custom bridge.

Once your teeth are filed down and prepared for the procedure, Dr. Claustro will take digital images and dental impressions so your custom bridge can be created. A temporary bridge may be placed while your custom one is crafted. Once your bridge is ready, the needed areas of your mouth will be numbed with local anesthesia. Other anesthesia or sedation methods may be discussed for any dental anxieties or a strong gag reflex so you will be calm during the procedure. The bridge will either be cemented into place or connected to implants based on the support you and Dr. Claustro chose at your consultation. Dr. Claustro will carefully adjust the position of the bridge so it is comfortable and stable.

Dr Claustro is amazing. She’s hands down the best dentist I’ve been to. She’s conservative in her methods and applies practical guidance and education on treatments.

I never write reviews but I had to for this - absolutely amazing experience. Who knew a dentist could also change the way your face looks??? I have tried MANY different face treatments for melasma and aging, and I have never seen results like I did with Dr. Claustro. The Opus Plasma did wonders to diminish wrinkles and tighten my skin, with no downtime at all. I coupled my treatment with the Resurfacing treatment and just wow. Anyone that actually has melasma knows that it is never going to go away, but I have not seen anything diminish it's appearance like this and I have tried EVERYTHING. Add in the amazing staff and Dr. Claustro herself, just top notch. Run don't walk to try these treatments! You will thank me!

About Us
How long do dental bridges last?

Dental bridges typically last between 5 – 15 years. Their longevity depends on factors such as your oral hygiene, the materials used, and regular dental checkups. With proper care, some dental bridges can last even longer.

Are there different types of dental bridges?

We offer several types of dental bridges at Joanna Claustro DMD & Associates, each designed to meet specific dental needs:

  • Traditional bridges: Use crowns on either side of the gap to support artificial teeth.
  • Cantilever bridges: Used when only one adjacent tooth is available for support.
  • Maryland bridges: Feature a metal or porcelain framework bonded to the back of adjacent teeth.
  • Implant-supported bridges: Anchored by dental implants for enhanced stability and durability.

Dr. Claustro will recommend the best type based on the location of the missing teeth and your overall dental health.

Do I need a dental bridge or a crown?

Deciding between a dental bridge and a crown depends on your dental needs. A dental bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth, while a crown is used to cover and protect a damaged tooth. Dr. Claustro and our team will evaluate your dental condition and recommend the most appropriate treatment for you.
